Google Adds New Goal Types to Analytics

Posted at: 15:10, Wednesday, 21 October 2009

For those who don't have an e-commerce site, but still wish to track the success of their site in converting, or holding on to visitors, Google has released a couple of useful Goal "Types".  Historically, the only option for Goals was to declare a target or destination URL (usually the "Thank You", post-purchase page), but we now have the option of measuring the success of a visit, based on time spent on-site, or number of pages visited.

You still have the option to assign a monetary value to each goal.  The video below does a pretty good job of explaining how to use the new features:

Leave your comments, and let us know how you're getting on with Google Analytics.  Does it still prove to be the best option for small to medium-sized businesses, as well as the "Bloggerati"?
